Restoration is underway at Leeds Playhouse, where PMP are appointed Quantity Surveyor and Cost Consultant to deliver a £1 million package of roof repairs to the theatre!
Having officially opened its doors in 1990 Leeds Playhouse was Britain’s largest purpose-built theatre for 15 years. The theatre was renovated in 2019, but was shortly forced to close due to the onset of COVID-19, and is now beginning to show signs of deterioration.
We are working with Page\Park Architects, DVC Roofing, and Leeds City Council to restore the theatres roof. The scheme is aimed at tackling water ingress in several areas to secure its long-term survival, after a number of patch jobs have proved unsuccessful.
Noting its importance to the city, and the role the Playhouse made to community development and social inclusion, Leeds Playhouse are set to enhance the theatres comfort and safety for public use, to ensure this does not impact the visitor experience.
