Project Completion – LSHTM Keppel Street Social Space!

PMP are thrilled to announce the completion of the new ‘Pumphandle’ Social Space for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine!

Designed by Rock Townsend in conjunction with the LSHTM Estates team, PMP Consultants were appointed Project Manager for the creation of LSHTM’s new ‘Pumphandle’ Social Space to transform the previously underutilised subterranean refectory within their Grade II listed campus into a brand new student hub providing a variety of flexible catering, social and informal learning spaces.

The client required a building designed with people in mind to encourage and foster new communities among students, staff and visitors. This was delivered by providing new catering facilities, versatile breakout and study areas, communal spaces and individual work zones designed to support flexible working and informal interactions.

The existing central space has been given a new lease of life with provisions to allow town hall meetings, lectures, ad-hoc gatherings and events to enhance the sharing of world-class research while delivering a much-needed sense of community.
