Project scope

Under the expert project management of PMP, a phased programme of improvement works is currently underway at the Keppel Street and Travistock Place buildings. The initial phases involved the construction of state-of-the-art laboratories and enhanced infrastructure, which has now progressed to focus on the original 1929 building, where PMP is spearheading the investment to reconfigure and refurbish offices and social areas, ensuring long-term sustainability and modern functionality.

Keppel Street, Phase 1:
Conversion of two floors of office accommodation into research labs.

Keppel Street, Phase 2B:
Creation of Schedule 5 containment labs within the 1929 listed building.
Value: £1.2m

Keppel Street, Phase 2C/D:
Reconfiguration of listed building to create new teaching and write-up labs and key MEP infrastructure upgrades.
Value: £8.5m

Keppel Street, Substation:
Conversion of office accommodation at lower ground floor level into a new substation.
Value: £1.7m

Keppel Street, Phase 3A:
Library storage and freezer room upgrades.
Value: 0.7m

Keppel Street, Phase 3B:
Conversion of three floors of laboratory and back of house areas to create research spaces and containment level CL2 and CL3 labs.
Value: £15m

Keppel Street, Phase 3D:
Expansion and refurbishment of the dated canteen to create contemporary refectory space with a new catering kitchen and the creation of improved facilities for socialising and events.
Value: £4.4m

Tavistock Place 1 Refurbishment:
Transformation of the original Travistock Place building into a learning and teaching centre comprising modern teaching spaces, study and breakout spaces, and social hubs over five storeys.
