St Phillip’s Cathedral, situated in Birmingham City Centre, is famed for its four stained-glass windows from the 1880s. With backing from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), a detailed assessment revealed significant damage, including missing or cracked glazing and damaged stonework. PMP, as Quantity Surveyor, commenced restoration in April 2023, focusing on repairing cracks, missing sections, failed leading, and paint loss. The windows were carefully removed and transported to a workshop in Wells for restoration. Upon their return, new protective grilles were installed to prevent future damage. Introduced to the project in May 2022, PMP worked with Birmingham Cathedral and the NLHF to ensure the budget was sufficient, successfully revitalising this beloved city icon.
