Project scope

The Rep’s Open House project, funded by a £1.47 million grant from the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership, aimed to boost accessibility and revenue. Completed in February 2022, the project revitalised the theatre’s façade and entrance foyer, creating an open-plan lobby with a bar, café, restaurant, and performance spaces, enhancing its connection to Centenary Square. In alignment with the city’s cultural programme and the Commonwealth Games, the project saw upgrades to the heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, as well as the replacement of draughty windows to meet new sustainability criteria and the city’s green objectives. Following public procurement rules, the scheme was procured through a PQQ exercise for Design & Build.
