During the industrial revolution, Birmingham rivalled London in culture, leisure, and business, with the Jewellery Quarter producing over 40% of the UK’s jewellery. Continuous local investment supports the restoration of its historic buildings, with the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) revitalising the area. Among the THI projects is the Grade II listed Jointworks, formerly home to Bishton & Fletcher, and known for its unique façade and Italian architectural influences. With assistance from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, PMP was appointed Project Monitor to transform the building into a modern co-working space. The project involved stripping out the building, refurbishing crittall window frames with double glazing, and creating a dynamic hub for young professionals and entrepreneurial businesses, fostering growth and diversity.
