With construction officially beginning in the last quarter of 2021, PMP are delighted to announce that Walsall (Hatherton) Medical Centre has achieved Practical Completion!
With the help of a £4.5 million grant from the NHS, we were appointed Quantity Surveyors for the replacement of the former building on Hatherton Street into a new purpose-built facility.
We worked alongside Gould Singleton Architects and Contractor, Speller Metcalfe on the scheme to combine four existing GP practices under one roof as part of the strategic development plan to complement wider development in the town centre. It will allow the practices to move from their previously cramped sites into a new three-storey building capable of providing services to over 25,000 patients! As a result, the practice will be able to offer a greater variety of services, reduce waiting times and provide access to medical specialists all within the town centre, as well as enable better access for patients with disabilities, elderly patients and parents with children.
With the community in mind, the scheme will provide consultation and treatment rooms, training and meeting rooms and an on-site pharmacy that will enable them to expand their training opportunities to better support patients with complex needs, and significantly improve their experience.
The project also integrates environmentally friendly build and design measures to meet a strict sustainability standard, with the aim of achieving a rating of ‘BREEAM ‘Excellent’.
